Pelosi Pledges An Assault Weapons Ban

Congress will be reinstating regulations on “assault weapons”, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) acknowledged Tuesday.

During an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Pelosi said that the [Democratic members of] Congress will work to find a way to reinstate the previous ban, which expired in 2004. Of course, they have to get around the Supreme Court ruling enumerating more concrete gunowners’ rights.

Pelosi said, “And we have to rid the debate of the misconceptions people have about what gun safety means.”

When asked if the ball is in Congress’s court now that Democrats control the White House, the Speaker said, “Yes, it is.”

Pelosi indicated that new regulations might entail registration and prohibitions on transporting firearms across state lines.
