16 Dead In Flu Outbreak
Mexico City closed schools across the metropolis of 20 million Friday after at least 16 people died and more than 900 others fall ill from what health officials suspect is a new strain of swine flu. World health officials worried that it could mark the start of a flu pandemic.
“We are very, very concerned,” said Thomas Abraham, a spokesman for The World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. “We have what appears to be a novel virus and it has spread from human to human.” If international spread is confirmed, that meets WHO’s criteria for raising the pandemic alert level, he added.
Cordova said samples were sent to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia, to determine whether it’s the same virus infecting seven people in Texas and California. As of now, tests show the flu is a “new, different strain … that originally came from pigs.”
All seven U.S. victims recovered from a strain of the flu that combines pig, bird and human viruses in a way that researchers have not seen before.
Schuchat of the CDC said officials believe the new strain can spread human-to-human, which is unusual for a swine flu virus. The CDC is checking people who have been in contact with the seven confirmed U.S. cases, who all became ill between late March and mid-April.
The U.S. cases are a growing medical mystery because it’s unclear how they caught the virus. The CDC said none of the seven people were in contact with pigs, which is how people usually catch swine flu. And only a few were in contact with each other.
CDC officials described the virus as having a unique combination of gene segments not seen in people or pigs before. The bug contains human virus, avian virus from North America and pig viruses from North America, Europe and Asia.
Health officials have seen mixes of bird, pig and human virus before, but never such an intercontinental combination with more than one pig virus in the mix.
Black-Magic Dollars
As usual, I put on an adult-sized diaper and my tinfoil hat in careful preparation to look at the change in Total Fed Credit last week, and it is a good thing I did, too, because the Federal Reserve (as expressed in their secret motto “We Are Evil”) created, out of thin air, a new US$29 billion in bank credit! Wow!
The interesting part is that the Federal Reserve used that new money – and a lot more – to buy $62 billion of US government debt last week! Hahaha! What a fraud! $62 billion! In one week! We are so freaking doomed!
Now, if you are having a hard time understanding my words because I am so outraged that I am actually incoherent, or you are disgusted by the way drops of frothy spittle fly from my hysterical lips as I loudly scream, scream, scream, “We’re freaking doomed!” what I am trying to say is that all of the economic problems we have, and all of the economic problems of everyone around the world, were caused by former Fed chairman Alan Greenspan creating what was, back then, a staggering $10 billion a month in more Total Fed Credit, which was then multiplied dozens of times over by the banks and financial centers, and which drove up asset prices so high that they are now falling, to the dismay of people who own assets and the greedy government which rakes off a nice Chunk Of Change (COC) from those assets.
And now here – here! – is Greenspan successor Ben Bernanke’s monetary insanity to create, in One Freaking Week (OFW), $62 billion whereas it took old Greenspan an entire month to come up with $10 billion! Yow! This is indeed insanity!

Milwaukee, WI Police Chief’s Remarks ‘Outrageous
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today criticized Milwaukee, WI Police Chief Ed Flynn for his open defiance of the State Attorney General’s office in a controversy over open carry of firearms.
Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen has stated that it is legal in Wisconsin for citizens to carry guns openly in a peaceful manner. However, Chief Flynn is ordering his officers to “take down” citizens, “put them on the ground” and disarm them, and “then decide whether you have a right to carry it.”
The situation should alarm all Wisconsin citizens, whether they own guns or not, said CCRKBA Legislative Director Joe Waldron, because it places police officers and private citizens in a deliberately confrontational position. Also, he added, Flynn’s approach raises serious constitutional questions because of the state’s clearly defined “right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation or any other lawful purpose” under Article I, Section 25 of the state constitution.
“Because Wisconsin does not allow concealed carry,” Waldron said, “the only way for citizens to exercise their constitutional right to keep and bear arms is to carry handguns openly. Chief Flynn should not assume he or his officers have the authority to decide who can and cannot exercise that right. His attitude is outrageous.
“Attorney General Van Hollen was correct in his statements about the legality of open carry,” Waldron continued, “and what does it say about a police chief when he publicly announces that he’ll do things his way and to hell with what the Attorney General says?”
Waldron also said a plan, announced by State Rep. Leon Young, a Milwaukee Democrat, to draft legislation that bans open carry, “is inviting court challenge.”
“If you cannot carry openly, and you cannot carry concealed,” Waldron wondered, “how can law-abiding Wisconsin citizens exercise their state constitutional right to keep and bear arms? We encourage Rep. Young to address that issue to the state Supreme Court before he pushes ahead with that scheme.”

Obama’s Economic Plan ‘Dangerous’
Former Vice President Dick Cheney predicted the Obama administration’s economic policies will be “devastating for our society” over the long term.
In an interview with Sean Hannity aired Tuesday night on Fox News Channel, Cheney, who has been in a war of words with the new administration, said that the industry bailouts and spending plans pushed by Obama are unsustainable and amount to “dumping … a huge additional burden on future generations. I think it’s very dangerous.”
Under Obama, Cheney said, “there doesn’t appear to be any limitation whatsoever in terms of the spending commitments that the administration wants to make. Vast expansion in terms of the deficit, but it also says a lot about what they intend for the role of government in this society.”
Obama has said that his bailouts and economic recovery plans will boost the deficit, to $1.75 trillion this year.
But Cheney said his concern isn’t only long-term deficits but that Obama “is also redefining that relationship between government on the one hand and the private sector on the other. And I think we need to be very, very cautious. I think we’ve gone beyond what reasonably we could expect in the way of intrusion into the private sector.”
The former vice president also defended his recent salvos against those who contended it’s improper for a former vice president to critique the administration that replaced his.
“I’ve been careful not to get person in terms of my criticism or my comment, but I think these issues are simply too important to the future of the nation for us to operate as though those of us who disagree somehow shouldn’t speak out and be heard. I think we need to be heard,” Cheney said.
